Eric Stach, Ph.D


Professor Stach is one of the founders, co-owners and technical leaders of the company. In this role, he helps to set technical direction and strategy. He is also a Full Professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Material Science and Engineering. His research group page can be accessed here. His research interests focus on the development and application of electron microscopy techniques to solve materials problems in catalysis, energy storage, thin film and nanostructure growth, and materials deformation. Daan Hein Alsem, Ph.D


Dr. Alsem is the Director of Research and Engineering at Hummingbird Scientific. He has two decades worth of research and development experience with in-situ and analytical transmission electron microscopy, electron microscopy-centered experimentation, and microscopy methods and hardware development. After acquiring his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, Dr. Alsem worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s National Center of Electron Microscopy. He previously also held an Affiliate Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. LinkedIn Profile

Khim Karki, Ph.D


Dr. Karki is an Application Scientist at Hummingbird Scientific. Prior to joining Hummingbird, Dr. Karki was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY. Dr. Karki received his Ph.D from University of Maryland in 2013. Dr. Karki’s research interests include materials for energy applications and development of in-situ TEM tools and techniques for materials research. LinkedIn Profile

Joseph Stevick, Ph.D


Dr. Stevick’s background is in Applied Physics, Material Science, and Product and Systems Development.
He completed his Ph.D. at Cambridge University, UK, in the field of Medical Imaging Physics, and has since worked in industrial R&D labs, contributing to the commercialization and optimization of new materials, manufacturing processes, and development of new technologies for the Aerospace, Automotive, and Medical Device Industries.
