In-situ lithium battery electrochemistry in liquid cell TEM

Vasiliki Tileli’s group at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)  has used Hummingbird Scientific liquid cell TEM holder to demonstrate battery electrochemistry in liquid cell TEM using reference electrode deposited on the electrochemical chip. The work has been published in the prestigious Journal of the Electrochemical Society (JES)

The researchers deposited lithium metal on the Au electrode to make an alloy of  LixAu  as a battery relevant reference electrode.  The method demonstrated here emphasizes the need for a better reference electrode for accurate and reliable electrochemistry.

Recently, Hummingbird Scientific launched a  bulk reference-based liquid cell electrochemistry holder. With our newest bulk electrochemistry holder, it is easy to incorporate any reference electrodes of choice by the user and record electrochemical data similar to what is observed in bulk-scale electrochemistry.
