Come visit our exhibit to learn more about Hummingbird Scientific’s newest in-situ TEM products and talk in-person with our team of scientists and engineers.  This year, our booth is located next to the middle rows of the poster presentation area.  With our in-situ holders on display and technical data to share, make sure to stop by and say hello. We look forward to meeting in person at the conference in July.

Vendor Tutorials:

This year we will offer two free vendor tutorials, space is limited so make sure to sign up early at the MSA megabooth.

  • Tuesday July 26th:

Title of Tutorial:  In-situ TEM characterization of nanomaterial reactions in relevant gas environmental conditions – a live demo

Location:  Demo conducted at JEOL booth #502

Description:  In this tutorial we described Hummingbird Scientific’s in-situ TEM gas cell specimen. This tool allows direct microstructural imaging—down to atomic resolution—of relevant solid-gas reactions at high pressure and high temperatures, opening a window for insights into catalysis, oxidizing and reducing reactions, among other examples. Development of a new generation of catalytic materials will benefit from in-situ TEM gas cell studies. We illustrate this technique and tool with a series of application examples and a live demo in a TEM. Note that this demo will be conducted in the JEOL booth #502.

  • Wednesday July 27th:

Title of Tutorial:  In-situ liquid-electrochemistry correlative microscopy: a TEM and X-ray microscopy multiplatform study

Location: Hummingbird Scientific Booth #1326

Description:  Recently there has been an exponential growth of in-situ TEM liquid-electrochemistry studies. The technique can be expanded further to a correlative imaging multiplatform that combines complementary data acquired from different microscopy techniques on the same materials and reactions.  We discuss the current state of the art in liquid-electrochemistry in-situ correlative microscopy by highlighting the possibility to perform TEM and X-ray microscopy in the same Hummingbird Scientific’s liquid cell. We will describe a novel in-situ liquid-electrochemistry TEM and X-ray multiplatform application example that sheds light on the dynamics of lithium composition and insertion rate in LixFePO4, a common battery electrolyte.

Hummingbird Scientific at the Poster Session:

We will be presenting a scientific poster at this conference as part of Advances in Instrumentation: In Situ Electron Microscopy and Big Data Analytics  in  2D  and  3D.

Poster: #362  Title:  In Situ Electrical Testing of Device-Relevant Nanocontacts in the Transmission Electron Microscope

Presentation day/date:  Thursday, July 28th
Presentation time:
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
