Hummingbird Scientific is seeking a Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer with professional experience in mechanical design, controls and software design to expand our product development team. The in-situ precision microscopy devices we create and manufacture are used by world-class academic institutions, national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry around the world. These in-situ devices allow scientists and researchers to study and form links between material structure and material property and use this knowledge to develop better materials.

As an engineer at Hummingbird Scientific you develop and design new in-situ microscopy products and collaborate directly with machinists and assembly technicians to bring these designs to life. Besides system design and development engineers are responsible for the project’s scheduling and coordination of tasks while working on multiple projects.

Background and desired skills include:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in mechanical/mechatronic design (required)
  • Experience designing precision systems
  • Strong 3-D CAD skills
  • Professional level LabView experience in developing full software packages
  • Control software development
  • Experience developing full systems/products
  • Ability to work from and solve problems using first principles
  • Multi-project management experience
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
